Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations 2nd Anniversary
With the Spring release, we are also celebrating 2 years since Finance and Operations was initially available on the market. Through these years, a lot of work has gone into this release, and now we would like to highlight some of the accomplishments achieved.
A couple of years ago, Microsoft set out to create a first-class cloud service, taking advantage of its advanced business processes, to provide a unified view of the business in real time through finance, manufacturing, sales retailer, supply chain, warehouse, inventory and transport management in a coherent solution with an intuitive user interface that allows customers, on a global scale, to manage a modern business. Now, two years later, it is gratifying to see how global clients have quickly adopted Finance and Operations and find out how customers and their businesses are benefiting from the great value of this service.
With the introduction of Finance and Operations, Microsoft created a new modern service that changed systems from being just a record system to a system of intelligence. They helped organizations share information within their network and across their supply chain by delivering real-time intelligence and actionable, predictive insights to keep business’ competitive using embedded Power BI analytics, Cortana intelligence, and advanced IoT and machine learning technologies.

Here are the most important highlight world-class capabilities that Microsoft has delivered in the past two years of the Finance and Operations service.

Provides users an overview of their business processes with both transactional and analytical data through visuals, tiles, KPIs, and quick links to reports that drive productivity. All of this while providing built-in, role-based security to limit access to only those that need it.

Standard delivered with the system that provides rich analytics that reflects the entire business and provides extensive real-time reporting capabilities allowing customers get the most from their data.
- Task-based guided experiences
Helping on-board users with context-sensitive help and assistance to learn functionality faster and reduce support costs and overall TCO.
- Flexible and agile financial reports
Supporting multiple legal entities and currencies in a single instance that natively handles foreign exchange and shortening end of month processes. Global Electronic Reporting (GER) providing configurable regulatory e-invoicing payments and reporting maintenance and extensions of frequently changed regulatory functionality much easier.
- Flexible deployment Cloud options
On-premises, and cloud + edge (also known as hybrid and currently planned for CY2019) – delivers the speed, scalability, flexibility, and control that enables customers to optimize global operations and stay on top of legal and regulatory compliance.
- Delivered localizations and regulatory updates
Across 34 countries and 41 languages, with the latest introduction of support for Brazil and India. Russia is currently targeted for Q4 CY2018.
- Move from over-layering to extensions
For customizing or extending the application and recently introduced no code/low code extensions, users can easily add fields and embed PowerApps. This allows customers to adapt the application to their needs but in a safe manner, allowing them to take advantage of our innovations in a more continuous fashion.
- Increased the financially-backed Service Level Agreement (SLA) to 99.9%
Support for customer’s needs across the Dynamics 365 portfolio of applications.
- Commitment to achieve and maintain the industry certifications
For customers who need to support their business needs. Within the first 24 months of running the Microsoft service got a list of industry certifications including ISO, SOC, HIPPA BAA and FERPA.
For Finance and Operations to help customers plan for a successful rollout by accelerating the deployment and user adoption with best practices and guidance that deliver greater repeatability and predictability.

Across of Dynamics 365 business applications such as order to cash across Finance & Operations and Dynamics 365 for Sales. Also connecting business processes across Field Service, Project Service and Finance & Operations applications.
- Microsoft is committed to Finance and Operations
Ready for the enactment of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) of May 25, 2018. This includes helping customers respond to Data Subject Requests (DSRs) with the Person Search Report.
As Finance and Operations keeps innovating, Microsoft will continue building intelligent solutions, that deliver capabilities that provide customers with new and improved values that enable them to drive superior business outcomes. A proof of this is their recent deeper partnerships where they will bring key capabilities in some of their ISV solutions natively within Finance and Operations to make it generally available to all customers as part of the service. Customers will begin to see these investments light up in the Fall 2018 release as well as future releases of Finance and Operations.
